Structural engineering services for structural design of a 600 sq. ft., one-story entrance vestibule addition and renovations to Columbia Hall. Design includes structural steel framing, concrete slab-on-grade, concrete masonry foundation walls, reinforced concrete piers and spread footings. Also included is the design of the structural reinforcement for openings and penetrations into the existing residence hall structure as well as design of structural reinforcement of the existing residence hall floor structure for mechanical equipment supports. Engineering services included review of existing construction plans, specifications and reports; on-site verification of existing conditions; analysis of existing structural systems; review of regulatory codes; preparation of design criteria and loads; preparation of calculations, construction plans, specifications and construction cost estimates; and bid and construction phase services that included shop drawing review and construction phase site visits.

This project involved the renovation of 208 student rooms with new finishes, upgrades to the student lounges, AC, and sound control. The main level lobby, office, reception, mailboxes, and circulation space were also renovated and a new two story entry directs views towards reception. All doors are access controlled including the elevator and stairwell in order to increase security. Mailboxes were moved away from the elevators to allow natural light in the space as well as an intimate waiting area.

Estimated Construction Cost: $1,640,000.00
